The Fetishization of 'Exotic' Women Identifying as 'Pure and White'

 


One of the most prominent examples of this on-screen is Daenerys from Game of Thrones. She models the type of high status, positive behavior, and attractive physical appearance of an ideal woman. However, the portrayal of Daenerys in the show is harmful because of how deeply intertwined her beauty is correlated with her sex appeal. Daenerys is the visual stimulation of the show. Amongst dark grey tones and even darker moods, Daenery's white silver hair and snowy pale skin are purposely fabricated to stand out. Along with her whiteness, Daenery's purity is emphasized as of the utmost importance and fetishized through her submissive behavior and outwardly docile appearance--despite being dangerous. Even as the head of her clan, Daenerys is objectified as a sex prize and therefore subjected to following sexual acts. Examining Daenery's designed characterizations and how her world treats similar women gives us clarity on the sole 'positive' perceptions of women in our own society and its harmful effects on girls raised in this generation.

Because of these two factors I question the validity of the source as being primary, however, I believe that the content of the interview is very raw and beneficial for the direct context of the situation. The article highlights evidence for unjust wrongings and how the eminent domain was an act of racism. My Retrospective

 Over this past semester, I've been confronted with my inconsistent tendencies with every assignment, activity, and writing project. I've always known that I despised structured writing. In AP U.S History, I hated writing DBQ's. Researched-based essays felt shallow to me, and writing concisely was never my goal. I came into this semester off the kinetic energy fueling me from last semester-interpreting theatre design. In this class, I could be much more poetic, metaphorically complex, and use rhetoric to compliment the author's own usage. I consistently prioritize freedom, but at what cost? For this writing class, I risk my grade. Further than that, I risk understanding. I always want to challenge my audience, but for them to also understand the basic content I'm trying to convey.
